Originally released in Arabic in 2005, the novel Girls of Riyadh or Banat al-Riyadh, was immediately banned in Saudi Arabia due to controversial and inflammatory content. I just finished reading this book, which was written by a Saudi woman, based on stories of her girl friends in Saudi Arabia. Girls of Riyadh, by Rajaa Alsanea is an expose in disguise. There's something to be said for an interesting cover: one of the biggest reasons that I initially bought this book was the fact that it's cover is so interesting.
